What is it? Well the community Thrift store was started
by me 17 years ago while working with the Welfare system in Oklahoma. Many needs were not being met in our community,
being a 'job developer' I began the store as a means to raise money to get clothing for my clients to go to work,
school,job interviews, and their families. Knowing that we are a throw away society, lots of clothing and HH items
go into the trash and dumpsters everyday, well I gave them a place to bring their stuff so others
can use it.
Over the years we have gone from a rental site to an actual store up town then in an old Church,
to a bigger store we rented that was previously a vet clinic, and NOW we are in our own 7700 square foot building in
the main street of Stigler purchased by the puppies....giving back to the community. Our overhead is larger
but we are meeting the needs of a whole lot more people. I hope we can survive at this level, we are not going to get any
bigger.
